Case study

Challenge

A publicly listed pure-play credit card issuer needed sustained performance confidence across complicated application flows, heavy data dependencies between three applications, and security-constrained scripting — against a production-scale estate of 16 million+ active customers.

Approach

VST built 60+ web and mobile API scripts with Fiddler, LoadRunner and JMeter, ran 150+ performance tests over eight months, monitored with New Relic APM, and partnered with DBAs on Oracle AWR analysis while supporting round-the-clock delivery windows.

Technology

JMeter, LoadRunner, Fiddler, New Relic APM, Oracle AWR

Outcome

150+ performance tests executed; concurrent-connection and query issues found and fixed before they blocked concurrency goals.

Value delivered

  • Thread-dump and OS-log analysis exposed server configuration limits under concurrent load.
  • Plug-and-play modules that failed under concurrency were replaced with purpose-built modules.
  • AWR work surfaced 20+ long-running queries; optimisations cut DB utilisation by more than 20%.
  • New Relic monitoring highlighted an unacceptable 1:8 DB-connection ratio per web request.
